Chatt. Co. wins 6-0 'Slobber Knocker' over rival Marion County High

   Chattahoochee County High defeated Marion County High 6-0 in a fiercely contested defensive battle in front of a large crowd in Panther Stadium last Friday, Oct. 9.
   It marked two milestones for the Panthers, who at 4-0 are off to their best start in 11 years. It had also been 11 years since they had beaten the Eagles (although they didn't play in 4 of those years). The last ChattCo victory over Marion was in 2009. That's also the last time they started

the season 4-0. Back in 2009 they finished the season with a 9-2 record.
   Marion County, last year's state runner-up, slipped to 2-3 with the loss.
   "I'm so proud of our guys," said ChattCo Head Coach Pierre Coffey. "They played extremely hard for four quarters and left it all on the field."
   Marion Co. Head Coach Billy Law said it was a "really hard fought" game and, "They just made one more play than we did. Our defense was outstanding. On offense we had a 14-play drive and an 11-play drive, but we couldn't punch it in."
   Coach Coffey definitely agreed on the toughness of both teams, as he referred to the game as a "slobber knocker."
   He added: "Marion County is very physical and well coached. It was a tough one."
