Marion edges Schley in
State Football Playoffs

   Last Friday's "Sweet 16" State Playoff game between Marion County and Schley County in front of a huge crowd in Eagle Stadium lived up to the hype of an exciting postseason game between rivals. In the end the home team won by one touchdown (35-27) to advance to the quarterfinals, while the visitors saw their season come to an end.
   "It was as good of a game as it gets," said MCHS Head Coach Chris Kirksey. "It was a very physical game, just like we thought it would be. We were very fortunate to get the win. It seemed to come down to who had the ball last."

   Marion County, the No. 2 seeded team in the playoffs, improved to 9-2 and will host No. 7 Lincoln County in the quarterfinals. Schley County ends its season at 7-5.
