Marion to host Clinch in Semi-Final

   Marion County High won a thrilling, hard-fought game last Friday at home to beat rival Schley County High in the quarterfinals of the Class A State Playoffs. The bleachers were full of cheering fans who turned out on a cold, wet night to cheer for both teams. The game proved worthy of the $12 ticket price, as the teams battled back-and-forth with the lead changing four times before Marion won by a single touchdown, 34-27.
   "It was the kind of game you'd expect between two huge rivals in the playoffs," said Marion Head Coach Chris Kirksey. "We made some mistakes early, then they made some mistakes near the end and we were able to capitalize on them. We made some plays on offense when we had to and we made a stop at the end on defense when we needed to."
   Schley County held the potent Marion County offense to only one score in the first half and led 7-6 at halftime.
   "We had a real good game plan," said Schley Head Coach Darren Alford, noting that the plan included focusing on stopping Marion's running game and forcing the Eagles to travel through the air.
