   The Schley County High varsity Wildcats won the Region 5A Track & Field Championship last week at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany. It was the third region title in a row for the Cats (no title awarded in 2020 due to pandemic).
   The Wildcats totaled 216 points to beat Marion (121), Chattahoochee (103), Taylor (60), Macon (51), Furlow (22), Stewart (4), and Greenville (1).
   "I am very excited for all of our track athletes to be able to win Region," said Caoch Scott Burgess. " I am most excited for those senior athletes to be able to win Region their last year. This is the third time that the senior boys have won Region, with them losing last year's season due to COVID-19."
   He added: "These senior athletes accounted for a great deal of our points throughout their years of high school and we will greatly miss them next year not only due to their athletic abilities, but also the consistent leadership that they have provided through the years. These senior athletes that have been with our program for four years include Aaron Pinckard, David Williams, Logan Elliott, Zavion Solomon, and Tyler Vickery." 
   "I would like to thank Coach Coogle, Coach Skipper, and Coach Earle for all of their hard work throughout the season," added Burgess. 
   Clinton Jackson led the team by winning three events and placing second in another one (38 total points).
   In addition to the team championship, many athletes advanced to the Sectional Championship by either winning events or placing in the top 4. They are listed below.

LADY WILDCATS

   The Schley County High varsity Wildcats won the Region 5A Track & Field Championship last week at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany.
   The Lady Wildcats scored 162 points to beat Marion (109), Chattahoochee (103), Taylor (99), Greenville (57), Chattahoochee (38), Manchester (25), Stewart (24), Furlow (20), and Macon (11).
   This was the second time that the current class of Lady Cats have won the title, as they were also Region Champs when this year's seniors were freshmen. There was no track season in 2020 due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
   "I am most excited for those senior athletes to be able to win Region their last year," said Coach Scott Burgess. "These senior athletes accounted for a great deal of our points throughout their years of high school and we will greatly miss them next year not only due to their athletic abilities, but also the consistent leadership that they have provided through the years. These senior athletes that have been with our program for four years include Dasani Minter, Perri DeVane,  and Rene Rix. … I would like to thank Coach Coogle, Coach Skipper, and Coach Earle for all of their hard work throughout the season."
   Dasani Minter led the team by winning an event, placing 2nd in two events, and coming in 3rd in another event (32 total points).
   In addition to the team championship, many athletes advanced to the Sectional Championship by either winning events or placing in the top 4. They are listed below.
