The Marion County High girls team brought home the Third Place Trophy from the GHSA State Track & Field Championship held last Thursday through Saturday at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany. It was an impressive feat, especially considering the fact that they only had six team members advance to the State Meet.
However, those six really shined and when the dust settled they had two individual state champs – Ansley Whiltey and Febbie King. As a team they accumulated 55 points, finishing behind only champion Gordon Lee (87) and runner-up Telfair County (78).
For the fourth year in a row they were led by Ansley Whitley, who won her fourth consecutive State Discus Title. That earned ... The rest of the story.
