earn another trip to 'Ship'

   For the second time in as many years the Marion County High varsity girls basketball team has earned a ticket to "The Ship." The Lady Eagles won their Elite 8 and Final 4 games last week to advance to the State Championship Game this Wednesday, March 6 at 6 p.m. in the Macon Centreplex.
   While the game will be over by the time most of our readers pick up this issue of the newspaper, if you're reading this "hot off the press", it's time to head that way.
   "We ask our fans to get ready to head that way," said Head Coach Fran McPherson. "Get there early because getting there is tough to do in Macon. I would head out at least an hour or more earlier than I thought I had to just to get there, get parked, get a ticket, and find a seat."
   The Lady Eagles (28-1) will be facing Calhoun County (26-2).
   Final Four: Marion took the final step toward the title game last Saturday at Valdosta State University by beating Clinch County 57-49 in the semifinal. It was a heck of a battle ... The rest of the story.
