Eagles to play for State Championship

Eagles celebrate after
winning in Semi-Finals.

   Marion County High overcame a slow start and surged to a 45-40 victory over Terrell County last Saturday at Valdosta State University in the Final Four (Semi-Finals) of the Class A State Basketball Championship Tournament. The Eagles are now 25-5.
   "Terrell County fought hard and their number 15, Jamiya McDaniel, was tough, but I thought our girls 'found a way' to win and that's what you want to do right now – survive and make it to the next game," said Head Coach Fran McPherson. "I am super proud of these

young ladies. Their focus and determination has been awesome since the Region Tournament. Now, just one more."
   That "one more" will be this Wednesday, March 7 at 6 p.m. when the Eagles will play for the State Championship in the Macon Centreplex against No. 1 ranked Greenville. They will be attempting to become the first team representing Marion County to win a state basketball title in 26 years (David Wells' 1992 Tri-County High girls).
