Kids Cafe to feed local children

From the June 23, 2021 issue of The Journal
By Linda Adams
Feeding the Valley in Columbus distributes lunches to kids throughout the surrounding counties in Georgia and Alabama in the summer each year. The program is a vital outreach to children experiencing food insecurity since lack of proper nutrition can affect physical and mental health.
Several groups in Schley County are included in this program.
The Ellaville United Methodist Church Vacation Bible School, Union Hill AME Church, and John Lewis Resource Center have all received lunches. Kids attending summer school at Schley County Elementary and Schley County High School will also benefit from the lunch program.
A total of 320 meals a day are being served in the County.
John Greene, Coordinator with Schley County Family Connection Collaborative, handles the Kids CafĂ© Program in Schley each year.
