Elvis has left the building
(But he's coming back)

Matt Cordell as Elvis Presley

From the June 16, 2021 issue
of The Journal

By Richard Harris
In the early to mid 1990s, the Moon Family had an Elvis Presley Museum in the current location of the Coffee Club/Moon Family Theatre in downtown Buena Vista. It eventually relocated to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, but this Saturday, June 19, "Elvis" will return.
Elvis tribute artist Matt Cordell will perform along with current members of the local Performance Academy at 7 p.m.
After Elvis died in 1977 at the age of 42, Mike Moon bought a lot of memorabilia (even vehicles) from band members and other sources. It was in Buena Vista for a while, "toured" around the country for a while, but finally set up home in Pigeon Forge, where it remained for around 40 years. Mr. Moon's daughter, Lynn McAllister, ran the museum for much of her life.
She met a young Matt Cordell during that time, as he grew up attending the museum and became such a huge Elvis fan that he began to use his talents in tribute.
"He's really, really, good, and we're very excited to have him not only performing in Buena Vista, but also working with the our local young people at Performance Academy," she said.
Tickets were expected to sell out, but if you want to find out if any are available, contact Moon Family Theatre at 229-649-2028.
