Twenty-six area residents have been implicated in the operation of a huge insurance fraud ring that attempted to bilk insurance companies out of a half million dollars – and successfully cheated them out of $155,925.
Thirteen of the alleged criminals reside inside The Journal's coverage area – a dozen in Stewart County and one in Marion County.
Warrants were issued last Wednesday, June 7 and most of the suspects have been arrested, but some remain at large. Among those arrested is suspected ringleader Devonta Waddy, 24, of Lumpkin.
