SCHS baseball team has Player & Coach of Year, All-State Players

   The Schley County High School baseball team, which recently won its second State Championship in three years, continues to score accolades after the season.
   The Wildcats recently earned five nice honors from Georgia Dugout Preview magazine, including Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and All-State Players.
Player of Year
   Will Barry (6' 2", 215), a senior pitcher/outfielder, earned the prestigious Player of the Year Award for Class A. Barry's performance this season helped Schley County win the Class A Public School championship. At the plate, he batted .496 with 10 doubles, six homers and 48 RBIs while scoring 28 runs. He struck out just four times.
   Meanwhile, on the mound Barry went 8-0 with a 0.58 earned run average. Opposing batters managed a measly .167 batting average. Barry struck out 50 batters in 36 innings.
Coach of Year
   Head Coach Chuck Cheek was named the Class A Coach of Year after leading the Cats to their 2nd state title in the last three years. The Wildcats, who finished the season with an amazing record of 34-2 and also won the Region 4A Championship. Schley outscored ... The rest of the story.
