For the second year in a row, residents in all five counties of The Journal's coverage area helped complete a special Statewide Bible Reading Marathon. They gathered at their respective courthouses at 7:14 a.m. last Tuesday, July 14.
No, the time listed above is not a typo. The date (7-14) and time (7:14) were both symbolic nods to the scripture that helped inspire the event. 2 Chronicles 7:14 – "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my

face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
Volunteers gathered not only locally, but in each of the 159 counties across the state. Each of them read scripture assigned to them, so that in a matter of minutes the entire Bible had been read at the same time in the State of Georgia.
The turnout was significantly less than last year, but that was due to safety concerns amid this year's Coronavirus Pandemic. Still, a handful of spectators showed up at most of the locations to listen, pray, and support the program.
