Richland in 'hot water' with EPD

   The City of Richland was recently hit with an enforcement order from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD). While water customers can relax about the quality of water (the order had nothing to do with that), the city will face a big challenge.
   The EPD expressed concern with the amount of water used and is asking the City of Richland to dramatically reduce water consumption.
   "Within five years of the execution date of this order, the respondent (City of Richland) shall reduce their per capita usage from 305 gallons per capita per day to 151 gallons per capita per day," according to the enforcement order that was issued on July 15.
