Chatt. Co. Residents Pack Meeting

   Extra chairs had to be brought in for the Tuesday, Jan. 8 meeting of the Commission of the Unified Government of Cusseta-Chattahoochee County, as local residents packed the meeting room to voice their opposition to a proposed rezoning for a proposed residential development.
   The local Planning & Zoning Board recently voted against creating a new "R6" zoning regulation, which, if approved, would allow for residential developments on half-acre lots.
   Tim Simpson, an engineer/surveyor from Phenix City, AL, spoke on behalf of the developers who have proposed the creation of "The Plantations at Red Oak", which would be located on 320 acres off of Gordy Mill Pond Road. He requested that the commissioners override the Planning & Zoning Board and establish the R6 zoning.
