   The Marion County Commission welcomed two new members (Jody Grimsley and Matt Gunnels), heard an aggressive proposal for improving dirt roads, listened to a renewed request to pave a dirt

road, received a couple of requests to use space in a vacant county building, approved minor roof repair to the Courthouse, voted to merge the County and City Recreation Departments (see separate story) and made various appointments during its meeting on January 8.
