Marion officials pass Dirt Road Remediation Plan, approve
naming of Ball Field, and more

   The Marion County Commission had a busy meeting last week. Commissioners approved an aggressive approach at improving dirt roads, voted to name a ball field for the late Roosevelt Jackson, discussed the possibility of putting a referendum about Sunday alcohol sales on the ballot, and continued to look at a proposal to combine recreation departments with the City of Buena Vista.
   Commissioners approved a Dirt Road Remediation Plan recommended by County Manager Thomas Weaver. The plan is an attempt to significantly improve the condition and maintenance of the county's massive array of dirt roads – approximately 180 miles worth.
