Local residents are saddened by the news of the tragic loss of a young woman in a motorcycle accident just outside of Columbus. Cindy Tran Huynh, 22, of Buena Vista died on Thursday, January 26 when a tractor-trailer reportedly failed to yield, causing Ms. Huynh's motorcycle to hit it.
Huynh, a four-year United States Army veteran who had served in the National Guard, was a student at Columbus State University.
She was transported from the scene of the accident – the intersection of Macon Road and Lynch Road in Midland – to the Midtown Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Reports include that the 61-year-old driver of the 2012 Freightliner Cascadia was traveling west on Macon Road and attempted to turn left onto Technology Parkway, but turned in front of Huynh, who was headed east on Macon Road on a 2009 Yamaha FZ6R, which hit the truck's trailer.
