   The Marion County High Eagles took another step toward their ultimate goal last Friday by beating Lincoln County 28-21 in the quarterfinals (Elite Eight) of the GHSA State Football Playoffs. It was an exciting game played in front of a large crowd in Eagle Stadium and the home team thrilled their fans by pulling off yet another big victory.
   The Eagles (10-2) advance to the semi-final (Final Four), while the Red Devils (9-3) are done for the year. Marion will host Pelham High (11-1) this Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to the State Championship Game.
   Last Friday the Eagles jumped out to a 21-7 halftime lead before the Red Devils scored twice in the third quarter to have the teams knotted at 21-21 going into the final period.
   The Eagles took a 28-21 lead with 9:07 left in the game and held on for the win. It was a bit of a role reversal for the Eagles, who lately have been falling behind and having to come back.

   The No. 2 seeded Marion County High Eagles (10-2) will host No. 6 Pelham High (11-1) in the semifinal (Final Four) of the GHSA State Football Playoffs this Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Eagle Stadium.
   The teams appear to be similar on offense, although the Hornets have scored even more points (average 50 points to Marion's average of 34).
