State Outstanding Post Runner-Up

   A sixty-something-year-old veteran in Shellman gets help filing for VA Health Care assistance. Sixty-plus area police officers, sheriff's deputies, firefighters, and EMTs all sit down to a great dinner in their honor. Dozens of kids from toddler to "tween" scramble about the park, looking for hidden Easter eggs. High school students learn that poise, confidence, and knowledge are all that one needs to stand before a group and give a short oration that can win them cash scholarship awards. JROTC Cadets and distinguished graduating seniors get the recognition they deserve for pursuing excellence in their school careers. More than three hundred graves of Veterans are annually decorated with a fresh American Flag in honor of their service each Memorial Day, and last year's flags are ritually disposed of in a Flag Retirement Ceremony on Flag Day.
