Marion wins season-opening
rivalry game over Schley, 25-7

   Both sides of the bleachers were packed in Eagle Stadium last Friday evening for the annual game between Marion County High and Schley County High. In addition to the excitement of it being the season opener for both teams, the schools are natural rivals. While Marion held a nine-game winning streak entering the contest, there was a feeling among "Wildcat Nation" that this might be the year the streak was snapped.
   In addition to the electric atmosphere, there were literal signs of the rivalry on display. A sign near the school's main entrance read, "You think you can beat us? Now that's fantasy football." However, once the Wildcats made their way inside the stadium they erected their own sign that read, "Pucker Up, Close Your Eyes, Kiss Your Winning Streak Goodbye."
