Schley has area's first death
reported as COVID-19 related

   As of Tuesday, April 7, there were 260 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the 16 counties that comprise the West Central Health District.
   The number of confirmed cases in each of the counties in this newspaper's coverage area are below.
   * Schley County – 10 (including one death).
   * Webster County – 4.
   * Stewart County – 4.
   * Marion County – 4.
   * Chattahoochee County – 2.
   Statewide, at deadline, there were 8,818 confirmed cases. Of those, 1,774 (20.12% were hospitalized) and 294 (3.73%) died.
   Further out in this region, Sumter County had 90 cases and rural Terrell County had 66.
   Please note that these figures are for confirmed cases only. It does not mean that is the exact number of people with the virus. There are surely other cases that have not been confirmed, either because their test results are not back yet or they have not been tested. Some who have the virus may also be asymptomatic (not showing symptoms) and not even know it. However, in that case they can still transmit it to others.
