Citizens asked to rally to help
Marion County child with cancer

From the April 4, 2018 issue of The Journal
Marion County residents Devin & Chrissy Steen received news on August 25 that their 5-year-old son, Devin, has B-All Leukemia, cancer of the blood. Oakland Church of God invites the public to a Benefit Day to help raise money for Devin's fight against this disease.
The Benefit will be held on Saturday, April 21 from noon to 5 p.m. at Oakland Church of God. (In the case of bad weather it will be relocated to the Brown Springs Life Center).
This will be a fun-filled day that will include performances of local bands and groups, including Truly Blessed, Southern Praise, OCOG Praise Team, and Tim Moxley.
There will also be activities and games for kids, including corn hole, ladder golf, and horseshoes. If the weather permits, there will also be a waterslide and dunking booth (please bring extra clothes for the kids).
In addition, there will be a yard sale and items will be available to win in raffles throughout the day.
Please bring a yard chair and stay for a while!
Devin has not been going to school but is being homeschooled for now. Devin and his family travel back and forth to Atlanta for him to receive IV Chemo Infusion weekly. Unfortunately, Devin has begun to experience negative side effects from the treatment. The Steen Family and Devin have a long road ahead of them, but Oakland Church of God, Brown Springs Church of God, Oakland Baptist, & many other churches in Marion County are pulling together to help them as much as they can – in fellowship and prayer.
All proceeds will go directly to Devin and his family. If you won't be able to attend, but would like to make a donation, mail to: Oakland COG, 20 Pineknot Road, Mauk, GA 31058 and designate "For Devin Steen Benefit".
