Marion BOE turns
down request to
become 'fiscal agent'
for Family Connection

   The Marion County Board of Education declined a request to handle the finances of the local Family Connection, awarded a bid for IT improvements at the elementary school, approved a few personnel decisions, and discussed various items during a recent meeting.
   The School Board had been asked by Family Connection Coordinator Kevin Brown back in February to consider taking on the "fiscal agent" duties for the organization. The Buena Vista City Council has served in that capacity for the last 15 years, but Brown said he would like to make the chance to alleviate potential conflict of interest concerns since his brother, Ralph Brown, is the mayor of Buena Vista.
