Local atheletes fare well
at Area Track Meet

   Marion, Schley, Webster, and Chattahoochee County high schools all had athletes do well enough in the Area 1A Track & Field Championship on April 10 in Albany to advance to the Sectional Championship, which will be held this Saturday, April 29, also in Albany.
   * Note: Athletes who advanced in the long distance events skip the Sectionals and automatically qualify for the State Championship Race.
Marion Girls
   The Lady Eagles scored a total of 81 points to place 2nd overall out of all 16 teams in Area 1A. They also had one individual Area Champion (Ansley Whitley), and had four athletes place high enough to advance to Sectionals.
   * Ansley Whitley: 1st place in high jump (4' 8"), 1st place in discus (110' 3"), 2nd place in shot put (31' 4.5")
   * Ashley Whitley: 2nd place in high jump (4' 8"), 2nd place in discus (106' 11")
   * Kamille McCannon: 3rd place in 100-meter hurdles (17.97).
   * Febbie King: 4th place in 200 meter dash (27.42).
   Others who scored points in events, but did not advance include: Aislin Vicente (5th in 1600 meters; 8th in 300-meter hurdles), Torri Myers (5th in triple jump), Febbie King (6th in 100-meter dash), Mary Dixon (7th in 1600 meters), Bevy Powell (8th in 3200 meters), Lillie McCorkle (5th in 300-meter hurdles; 8th in 100-meter hurdles), Kamille McCannon (7th in triple jump), 4x100 Relay Team (6th place), 4x400 Relay Team (8th place) ...
