Popular Marion Co Service in Jeopardy

 A popular long-running service in Marion County has received a stay of execution, but its long-term survival is up in the air.
  During the recent Marion County Commission meeting, Chairman Matt Gunnels recommended that the county government end its practice of providing $4,000 of local funding for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
  Gunnels added that even if his fellow commissioners disagree with his recommendation and decide to keep providing funding, they should reduce the amount.
  "In my opinion, it's not right nor fair to use hard-working county taxpayers' dollars to fund a program that the majority who use the free program are citizens of the city," said Chairman Gunnels.
