The Schley County High Wildcats are now only one win away from the opportunity to compete for their first state championship after pounding the Wilcox County Patriots 55-23 in the quarterfinals of the state playoffs. The scored the big win in front of a large and supportive crowd in Wildcat Stadium.
The Cats (Region 6A Champs) are now 11-2 and headed for the semifinals, while Wilcox ended its season with a 9-4 record.
Schley trailed briefly, 9-7, in the first quarter, but led 20-9 by the end of the period.
"We were behind early for the first time in a long time and I liked how we were resilient when things didn't go our way," said Head Coach Darren Alford. "You don't want to have to do it, but I think we needed to overcome a little adversity and we did."...
