Canyon Plein Air puts Stewart Co Beauty on Canvas

 A painting contest called Canyon Plein Air was held last Saturday at Providence Canyon State Park in Stewart County. Organized by the Friends of Providence Canyon State Park, the event drew 19 artists from all over the state, including three from Stewart County.
  Described as a "quick paint" the artists could only paint from dawn until noon.
  The judges were two retired school art teachers: Kathy Blackburn from Richland and Sandra Dunaway from Lumpkin.
  Barbara Ratner of Atlanta won first place with a delicate painting of a warehouse and gin in Lumpkin. Second place was won by Donna Biggee of Snellville with a painting of a view of the canyon. Beth Blackwell from Atlanta won third with a study of a portion o...
