Marion Co. Election Board responds to 'IT' concerns

 Earlier this month, The Journal reported that the Marion County Commission voted to rescind approval of the payment of two invoices submitted by the Board of Elections, voting instead to pay $10,000 for each instead of $15,000. They were for IT support, which is required by the state. However, commissioners expressed their belief that the amount was too high, noting that the six counties in the region they checked with paid considerably less for the service.
 In last week’s issue, The Journal reported on the related story of a local resident asking the Commission to conduct an inquiry into the Elections Department. The commissioners did not vote to do so, but noted that they will continue to look at other options for IT support moving forward.
