The Lady Cats’ first playoff game will be Friday at 4 p.m. against Baconton. If they win, they will play again at 8 p.m. against the winner of the first round contest between Calvary and Irwin. If they lose the first game, they will move to the losers bracket and play Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
    SCHS 6, Brookstone 1
Schley County opened the Region Tournament with a 6-1 victory over Brookstone.
Cami Fripp performed extremely well on the mound, going the full seven innings and allowing only two hits and two walks while striking out six batters.
The offense was led by April Zimmerman (2 RBI, double) and Brittney McCorkle (triple) with two hits each.
Erin Jordan, Sarah Gordy (2 RBI), Brooke McCorkle and Stephanie Veatch each added a hit.
“We lost to Brookstone twice in the regular season,” noted SCHS Coach Brandy Conner. “We came out ready to play and this was a great game for us.”
SCHS 5, Pacelli 3
The Lady Cats then defeated Pacelli (the No. 5 ranked team in the state) by a score of 5-3 in the region championship game.

Cami Fripp again went the distance to earn the win (9 hits, 6 strikeouts, no walks).
April Zimmerman was the leading hitter with three hits, while Sarah Gordy had two hits and drove in two runs. Erin Jordan and Brooke McCorkle both had one hit.
Schley County High (which entered the postseason as the state’s No. 10 ranked team) improved its record to 16-8 with the two tournament victories.
The top four teams from the Southern Sectional (as well as the top four teams from the Northern Sectional which will be played in Dalton) will advance to the Elite Eight round of the playoffs, which will be held Oct. 26-28 in Columbus.
